Application
EDTA, 500 mM Solution, pH 8.0, ULTROL® Grade has been used along with phosphate buffer saline (PBS) for cell disruption to harvest crypts in situ hybridization of nematodes. It has also been used as a component of isoelectric focusing solution (IEF) to resuspend myofibrils for protein studies.
General description
Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) is a metal chelating agent, which is used in treating patients with heavy-metal poisonings like lead or mercury. It is also used to minimize the non-specific serum protein interactions in enzyme immunoassays. Due to its ability to inhibit protein agglutination, it is useful to make blood/plasma samplesand in immunoanalysis to detect CD3 cells. EDTA combines with buffers or ionic salts to stimulate the immune cells in the blood samples. It is used in multiple aspects to treat and analyze psoriasis. EDTA functions as an antioxidant to combat psoriasis, while it is also used to understand the disease at a molecular level.
A useful agent for radioimmunoimaging.
